Drama Club Rejects - Drama Club Rejects (2016)

Genre - Hard Rock / Punk / Alternative
Label - Self released

Track listing:
01 - King of Second Chances
02 - 1 Day Week
03 - Solarflare
04 - Space Invaders
05 - I Wanna Be Your Everything
06 - Homesick Alien
07 - Destination Anybody
08 - Idiot Brigade
09 - Kickin' A Hole
10 - Hate Song
11- Wish You Were Here

Drama Club Rejects are a new melody driven punk rock band consisting of an amalgamation of artists who have already got... quite a history in the genre. Nick Parsons ( Almighty, Whatever, Supercharger) Stidi (Wildhearts, Whatever) and Nash (Supercharger). Combining edgy riffs, power pop chorus's and down right dirty mood swings, and they are bloody awesome!
The album opens with King of Second Chances, a hearty up-tempo blast of melodic hook laden punk rock n roll, which really sets the tone for what is to come with the rest of the album! Musically the guys are in fine form, churning out solid track after solid track here on their debut. Musically the guys sound like the perfect blend of their previous bands, you can here elements of Whatever, Supercharger and even The Almighty and Wildhearts in places. Blending punk rock attitude with power pop sensibilities and melodies, which makes for an exhilarating and thoroughly enjoyable album!
Highlights have to include the aforementioned King Of Second Chances, Homesick Alien, Kickin A Hole and Hate Song, although to be brutally honest there just isn't a bad track on the album!

Well Worth Checking Out!

Hung Like Jack - Life's First Sign Of Rage (Single) (2015)

Genre - Hard Rock / Metal / Punk
Label - Self Released

Track listing:

01 - Life's First Sign Of Rage
02 - Fire Beneath Me

Hung Like Jack return next month with a two track signal that's set to be the soundtrack to your summer with Life's First Sign Of Rage!
Two blistering tracks that manage to combine the bands hard rock, metal and punk influences perfectly. There is enough angst and energy contained within these two tracks to satisfy any one, all the while tempered with the bands acute sense of melody.
The single's / EP's title track burst into life from the on set with a gang chant and great melodic riff.
The guitars and bass line really driving the song along, yet restraining themselves enough to allow the songs melody and vocals to take centre stage. A great song that I can see becoming very popular with the bands fans. Love the break downs too, heavy riffy monsters!
The EP's / singles other track, Fire Beneath Me (the b-side in the good old days!) is another monster of a track. This song has more punk leanings to it, yet is still undeniably Hung Like Jack. Again the guitars really drive this song along, it also has plenty of chanting and some great lyrics. I can really see this one becoming a firm live favourite has it just about has everything.
If these two new tracks are anything to go by then I cant wait to hear a bloody album from these guys, its long over due!
You really do owe to yourselves to check these guys out, think Supercharger / Whatever mixed with The Jelly's and Wildhearts.

Very Highly Recommended.

SuperCharger - Wolf Tickets EP (2013)

Genre - Hard Rock / Metal / Alternative / Punk
Label - Self Released

Track listing:

01 - Pieces
02 - A Major (Headshake)
03 - Cartoon Smile
04 - Sceneshifter
05 - Hallelujah

UK Rockers SuperCharger unleash their latest EP upon the world and the follow up to the mighty Retox EP, in the form of Wolf Tickets. Five insanely intense and well crafted songs, delivered with the passion and heart that we have come to expect from Nick Parsons (ex Whatever / The Almighty) and the SuperCharger crew. To be honest dare I say that the songs on offer here may even drop a little of the usual SuperCharger fury and attitude and more than nod their heads a little in the direction of Whatever (Nick Parsons original band from way back in the nineties), which is no bad thing as I was a huge fan of their two albums and Ep! Pieces delivers a melodic fury and intensity that really sets the scene, quickly followed by A Major (Headshake), which slows things down a little, with its pop sensibilities. Two for two so far! Cartoon Smile follows, and this track really could be a Whatever track, awesome as it twists and turns. Radio friendly too! Definitely one of the standout tracks on offer here together with Hallelujah and A Major (Headshake). Sceneshifter picks up the pace again, another excellent track, whilst the Ep closes out with Hallelujah, a seven and half minute opus. Its been a long path for SuperCharger main man Nick Parsons, through Whatever, The Almighty, Runt and finally SuperCharger, but the quality of the music has never dropped. Wolf Tickets delivers further proof that SuperCharger are a great British band delivering quality music on a consistent level!
Very highly recommended!

Supercharger - Retox EP (2012)

Genre - Hard Rock / Punk Rock / Metal / Garage Rock
Label - Independant

Track listing:

01 - Retox
02 - Hold It Down
03 - Postcards From The Edge

Geordie noise merchants Supercharger return with a new three track EP in the form of Retox, a blistering work out in all that they do best!
With the pedigree of Nick Parsons (Whatever / Almighty) leading the way, the band power their way through opening track, Retox, a song that has enough riffs, tempo changes and pop sensibilities that that the mighty Ginger Wildheart would be proud. Next up is Hold It Down, which opens with a bone crushing riff, before the tempo changes kick in, another great song added to their arsenal, and a song that really does remind me of Nicks Whatever days. Closing out this EP is Postcards from the Edge, opening with a classy atmospheric begining, and proves to be the classiest song on the EP. Again the band show that they know how to write a great song, with plenty riffs, tempo changes and big choruses.

If you ever wondered just what happened to Whatever, then check out this EP to see just what they mutated into!

Supercharger (UK) - Smashing Up The Future EP

Now this EP has been out for a while now, it was released in early December 2008 but don't let that put you off. Let me introduce the band to those of you who may not have a clue as to who they are. Supercharger are a four piece rock band based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, and were born out of the ashes of Runt (UK) who called it a day in late 2007 and are lead by Nick Parsons (Whatever / The Almighty). The band have a rock / punk / metal sound which I can best describe as the perfect blending of The Wildhearts with The Almighty!

You get 4 tracks here, ' Lawyers and Locksmiths', 'Undone', 'Different Kind Of Low', and Jekyll and Hyde'.

'Lawyers and Locksmiths' opens up this ep with just the perfect balance of tempo, aggression and melody, really getting things off to a great start, 'Undone' follows, which is slightly heavier, with some crunching guitars but this song really shows The Wildhearts influences in my opinion as Ginger himself could have written this one with its tempo changes and mid section, in fact it also brings to mind Nick's former band 'Whatever'.

Then we get 'Different Kind Of Low', which again could have been penned by the Ginger one himself, its an up tempo punk track with a great melodic chorus, a brilliant song!

'Jekyll and Hyde' rounds up this ep and is another fine track. If you liked bands like The Wildhearts, The Almighty and Whatever in the mid nineties then you're going to love this ep, you really should check these guys out!
