Hell's Gazelles - Take Your Medicine (2018)

Genre - Hard Rock
Label - Self Release

Track listing:

1. Give Me Something
2. Stone Cold
3. Out Of Time
4. Take Your Medicine
5. She Devil

Hell's Gazelles is a hard rock band from Oxford, UK. are preparing to release their brand new ep 'Take Your Medicine' this July (27th)

The EP was recorded and produced by Chris D'Adda (Wayward Sons, Toseland) at Vale Studios and mixed / mastered by Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Milk Teeth) at The Ranch Production House, 'Take Your Medicine' features five high-energy slabs of modern hard rock goodness tinged with metal influences!

With support slots for the likes of Black Moth, The Treatment, Desert Storm plus playing Bloodstock Open Air, HRH Roadtrip and more, the band have been building a healthy reputation on the live circuit, and in 'Take Your Medicine' deliver an EP that builds upon the strengths of their previous debut, showcasing their maturing song writing abilities perfectly. Here we clearly have  four guys who love great Rock music, delivering mega riffs, huge hooks and some soaring Halford /  Dickinson-esq vocals courtesy of lead singer Cole Bryant.

The EP opens up with 'Give Me Something', a relatively up-tempo modern rocker that really sets the scene for what is about to follow, with Cole Bryant showcasing his vocal acrobatics early on.

Next up was have 'Stone Cold' (for which the band have produced a lyric video) which has a slightly more classic rock feel to it. Still the nice big riffs and modern rock sound, but the song seems to follow a more classic rock style, which a ok with me.
'Out Of Time' is up next, slowing the tempo very slightly but continuing the high quality delivered on its two preceding tracks. The EP's title track is up next. 'Take Your Medicine', once again falling back on to a more classic rock style, not as heavy as its preceding tracks but picking the tempo back up a little, and you can just imagine this going over a storm live with the crowd chanting the chorus!
The Ep closes out with the rather excellent 'She Devil' with its hypnotic riff.

If I had to try and describe the sound of Hell's Gazelles, I would have to say Modern Rock with a strong Classic Rock and NWoBHM influence (especially in the vocal department!), which proves to a great mix.

"Encapsulating the energised, thought provoking and wild delivery of 'Take Your Medicine'; the EP artwork (by Very Metal Art) features the maniacal scientist 'Dr. Strangechild'."

Well worth checking out!!

City Of Thieves - Incinerator (EP) (2015)

Genre - Hard Rock
Label - Townsend Records

Track listing:

01 - Incinerator
02 - Lay Me To Waste
03 - Buzzed Up City
04 - Here Comes The Shot
05 - Mr 50/50 (Live Acoustic)

"Since making their live debut at Camden Rocks Festival in May, the buzz is spreading about City Of Thieves – no frills, no messin', no gimmicks – it's heavy rock in its purest form and will send you straight to the front of the stage with sledgehammer riffs, hooks and melodies."
"With producer Toby Jepson at the helm, Mike Fraser on mixing duties and mastering by Simon Francis (Kodaline, Kaiser Chiefs, Primal Scream) the vision of this new material was in the best of hands. When asked what he thought about City Of Thieves, Mike Fraser simply replied "Killer band...Killer songs". This is not a throwaway comment, this is from a true craftsman whose worked on albums for Metallica, AC/DC, Slipknot, Aerosmith and more."

City Of Thieves are a new band hailing from the UK, playing that good old fashioned British Hard Rock the way that it should be delivered, with heart and passion! No frills, no bullshit, just good solid songs and a great band, a simple and perfect formula if you ask me.

The EP's title track, 'Incinerator', opens things up, with a groove and a swagger expected more from a long established band as opposed to new kids on the block so to speak. A great start, good solid track that oozes confidence.
Next up we have 'Lay Me To Waste', another great track that changes things up a little. More melodic this one, yet still with plenty of meaty riffs. Toby Jepson has done a great job of capturing the bands real essence on these songs. 'Buzzed Up City' follows, and this track has to be my favourite on offer here, its such a great song, full of energy and passion, together with a riff AC/DC would kill for.
'Here Comes The Shot' closes out the studio recordings on offer here, and does so in style! A monster of a track, that once again see's the guys mixing things up a little.
The EP closes out proper with the live acoustic recording of 'Mr 50/50', yet another great song, capturing the raw energy and spirit of the band.

Incinerator proves that City Of Thieves have a lot to offer, and when paired together with the likes of Screaming Eagles, BlackWolf, Rank Berry, Rusted Hero and Cage The Gods, they show that the UK's Hard Rock scene is truly alive and kicking!

"With Planet Rock Radio playlisting 'Incinerator' and show announcements happening NOW - City Of Thieves will release their EP 22nd September 2015 via Townsend Records, with the debut album scheduled to be unleashed in 2016.
These guys aren't just here to steal your soul for the love of rock n' roll...they're here to DEVOUR it. Tune in, turn it up...we'll see you down the front."

Very Highly Recommended!

WhiskeyDick - Welcome To Yeehaw County (2015)

Genre - Southern Rock / Country / Hillbilly / Acoustic
Label - Stampede Press Uk

Track listing:

01. Redemption
02. Train Robbin, Gun Totin, Dope Smokin, Guitar Pickin, Mother Fuckin, Good Time Band.
03. Yee Haw
04. Breathin A New Life
05. Help
06. 18  Wheels Of Life
07. My Prison State Of Mind
08. Drunk As Hell
09. Devil’s Eyes
10. Gun Totin’ Rebel Son
11. Murder Love Song
12. BlackTooth Grin
13. Fallen Heroes Remastered

"Texan duo WhiskeyDick have given anyone stumbling across them some very subtle hints as to what they may sound like. If the album art featuring jars of moonshine, trucker hats and a confederate flag doesn’t quite give it away, maybe the albums title will. These two guys play good old-fashioned, redneck-tinged acoustic country rock. You can pretty much smell the bourbon (and weed) that undoubtedly went into the making of this record."
Now the above statement may sound a little negative to some, but its not. These guys play acoustic driven southern hill billy blues with their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks. But they take what they do very seriously, and all thirteen songs on offer here show that. The songs are very well crafted, and by no means throw away, despite the tongue n cheek lyrics. Now I love my down tuned overdriven guitars as much a the next guy, but this album really has taken me by surprise. As I previously said, its acoustically driven, yet as powerful as any full blown band album out there. Help is just brilliant, sensitive and touching, Redemption and Train Robbin... are pure southern fun.
These guys are very obviously enjoying themselves and you are left in no doubt that that’s what you will be doing also. The whole album gallops along and takes you on an exciting journey, from gentle acoustic to breath taking riff and solo offerings mixed with a gritty cowboy presence. Outstanding tracks for me were ‘Help’ with its beautiful melodic raspy vocals, delicate acoustic and heartfelt passion. ‘Black Tooth Grin’ with its very obvious Dimebag Darrel tribute.
Welcome To Yeehaw County isthe perfect soundtrack to a night of booze and BBQ.

Well worth checking out!

08 - I Run
09 - Because Of You
10 - Wanted Dead Or Alive (Bon Jovi Cover)
11 - The Only One
12 - Cure For Healing
13 - Redemption

Welsh rockers Defy All Reason, unleash their debut album, The Road Ahead, upon the world and what a bloody album it is!
Defy All Reason manage to create the perfect mixture of melody and grit, whilst throwing in a good old bit of attitude to create on of the best albums that I have had the pleasure of hearing in a long time. From the opening Midnight Train, with its heavy southern blues influences, to the gritty melodic groove of Bad Blood, the bass driven You Get Me High, the funk tinged Bad Taste Of You, to the huge power ballads of Behind Those Eyes and Finding My Way Back (To You), this album really does cover all of the bases! (including the best version of Bon Jovi's classic Wanted Dead Or Alive that I Have ever heard!).
As I stated earlier the band have found the perfect balance between heavy grooves and melody. And here was me thinking that the last really great band to come out of Wales was bloody Tigertailz!
I fell in love with this album upon first hearing it, I can see huge things in the future for these guys should they gain the right exposure and backing.

This is one album that you really should be checking out.

Venrez - Children Of The Drones (2015)

Genre - Hard Rock / Modern Rock / Progressive / Alternative
Label - Monarch Music Group / Stampede Press UK

Track listing

01 - Hang The Predator
02 - Children Of The Drones
03 - Devils Due
04 - Salvation
05 - Mist Of Mercy
06 - Deep
07 - 20th Reason
08 - Reflection
09 - Spin The Top
10 - Sacred Blood

L.A. based rockers, Venrez are back with their third release, ‘Children Of The Drones’. Ven – vocals Jason Womack – guitars Nico D’Arnese – bass Ed Davis – drums. This time around the band serves up a sonic rock sound that seems them really going for the throat.
The album opens up with the atmospheric and moody mid tempo Hang The Predator before bursting into life with the albums rocking title track. Devils Due manages to somehow combine elements of the two previous tracks, with the vocal effects and up tempo riffs. Salvation is yet another fine rocking track that maintains the albums pace whilst twisting and turning through many tempo changes during its course.
Mist of Mercy slows things down a little with its acoustic driven intro and almost psychedelic feel. A great song that for some reason reminds me of US doom rockers Troubles more mellow moments.
Deep is up next and sees the guys return to the heavier groove of the Hang The Predator. Another great song.
20th reason follows, and this one is a rather nice mid-tempo melodic rocker. Reflection is up next, another great slow melodic rocker that twists and turns through tempo changes and various guitar atmospherics.
Spin The Top has more of a crunchy grinding riff, great song that really sets up the albums closer, Sacred Blood, which is great epic track in the style of the great rock albums of yesteryear.
The albums production is awesome throughout and really allows the songs to shine.
With Children Of The Drones, Venrez serve up melodic songs that have a real substance to them, along with some real attitude and maturity. This is a truly great album that deserves plenty of exposure!

Profane And The Sacred - Chapter 1 - A Long Time Coming (2015)

Genre - Stoner Rock
Label - Cargo Records

Track listing:
01 - Bench
02 - Bleed That Stone
03 - You Know
04 - Weather The Storm
05 - From The Top
06 - All For None
07 - Just A Little
08 - Words
09 - A New Leaf

‘Chapter 1 : A Long Time Coming’ is the debut studio album by stoner rock band PROFANE AND THE SACRED.
Featuring gigantic doom laden riffs that unashamedly smother you in nostalgia but waste no time in lacing prog tinged instrumental breakdowns into a 9 song musical journey. Showcasing time progressions that shift gears but never let up on the momentum - allowing the raspy, gritty vocals of singer Luke Alleeson to cover the organic soundtrack.
'A Long Time Coming' is an album specifically recorded to sound alive and not manipulated to the point of sounding ‘cookie cut’ -  the warm acoustic notes of album opener ‘Bench’ gives way to down tuned riffing with ‘Bleed That Stone’ and ‘You Know’ demonstrating the armoury of this band. First single ‘From The Top’ showcases Profane And The Sacred in a 5 minute classic stoner rock track, with the latest single 'Words' demonstrating fast pace and groove that hits you right between the eyes during its chorus.
The subtle tones of closer ‘A New Leaf’ captures the melodic side, with keyboards, acoustic and bass complimenting each other in this instrumental piece, leaving the listener in a soothing,  melancholy reflective mood.

Now I have to be completely honest, I am not the greatest fan of heavy stoner rock / southern metal bands, finding many of them to be just heavy for the sake of being heavy, with vocalist's that just shout scream and growl as opposed to singing, but this album is different. Profane And The Sacred are not only talented musicians with a penchant for heavy bone crushing riffs, but they also have an ear for a great melody, that together with their ability to pen some great songs makes this a great album!
The riffs come thick and strong courtesy of guitarist Rick Spooner whilst the rhythm section of Rob Taylor and Kieran Smith keeps everything nice and tight, but the real highlight here is vocalist Luke Alleeson. This guy has one hell of a set of pipes on him! He has the range and power in his voice to really make the songs come to life, as can be heard on tracks like "Weather The Storm", "Bleed That Stone" and "From The Top".
This exciting debut album showcases Profane And The Sacred as one of the best UK based heavy music bands out there at the moment, and proves that they can more then hold their own when compared to their international contemporaries.

Treason Kings - Your Suit EP (2014)

Genre - Hard Rock / Alternative / Modern Rock
Label - Self released

Track listing:
01 - Your Suit
02 - Unless You'll Be

New on the scene, Treason Kings are turning heads with their alternative rock sound that manages to mix Black Sabbath, Alice In Chains with Biffy Clyro whilst putting their own stamp on things it with their own unique twist.
Hailing from Leeds, Treason Kings are a 4 piece alternative rock band who live together in a crumbling terrace house, generating riff heavy wall-of-sound chaos in their basement just bands did back in the good old days!
Title track ‘Your Suit’ is a tip of the hat to stoner rock/grunge influences, and is an example of what happens when both guitarist greet their fuzz pedals with open arms. The Sound Garden / Pearl Jam and Sabbath influences really shine through on this track, whilst it almost maintains a prog rock feel to it as the same time. 'Unless You’ll Be’ is a faster paced assault on the speakers, filled with the energy and rawness the band has become known for on the live circuit.
The band are already making waves in all the right places.  ("‘A sound that could dominate the world!") media and industry are taking note of Treason Kings, with the BBC’s Alan Raw championing the band. He first saw the band at their sold-out hometown launch show held and grabbed them for an impromptu interview straight after their set. This subsequently led to a live interview and numerous plays on his BBC Introducing radio show.
Most recently, singer/songwriter/producer Toby Jepson (Little Angels, The Virginmarys, The Answer, Saxon, Toseland, The Brew) has confirmed his involvement with the band for an upcoming new ep/mini album release:
"Treason Kings to me represents all that's great about British music; inventive, passionate, thoughtful and with that certain quirk that sets them apart from others. Above all, the songs are killer, and that really is the most important thing. I'm delighted to be involved in the bands development, working with the lads is a joy, it's great to witness the birth of a band that really does have something to say, and who say it in such a unique fashion" - Toby Jepson

'Your Suit/Unless You'll Be' is released 25th July 2014.

BLACKWOLF - The Hunt (2014)

Genre - Hard Rock / Classic Rock / Blues
Label - Self Release

Track listing:

01 - Mr Maker
02 - Keep Moving On
03 - Moving Mountains
04 - Faith In Me
05 - Trouble
06 - Only Said In Silence
07 - House Of Emerald Wine
08 - Raised On The Sun
09 - Black Hole Friend
10 - Dragging Ghosts
11 - Releif
12 - Sleepwalking
13 - Sea Of Mercy

Blackwolf are a five piece classic rock band hailing from the Bristol region of the UK. The soulful, hard and heavy rock’n’roll sound of BlackWolf, along with their energy and determination, has seen the band’s successful ventures grow from the small intimate stages of their local Bristol scene in 2010 to those of the main stage at O2 Academy Newcastle, Nottingham’s Rock City, Manchester Academy, O2 Academy Islington and many more.

Now Blackwolf are releasing their debut album in the form of The Hunt, “Sonically we wanted ‘The Hunt’ to sound like a contemporary record being made today but with some of the elements and flavours that all the great classic rock albums have." something that they have acheived here!
The huge guitars, fast hooks and loud drums provide the perfect landscape for vocalist Scott Sharp to wrap his tonsoils around, and that he does, bringing to mind many of the genre's greats as he does.
The production does a great job of capturing the vibe of each song without ever being too perfect. It remains just raw enough as not to dilute anything from the songs, a wonderful job accomplished by Jeff Rose (together with the band).
The Hunt is a very strong classic rock album, with high tempo fast paced rockers like, Mr Maker, Trouble, slower groovers like House Of Emerald Wine, melodic atmospheric tracks like Raised On The Sun, Releif, Sleepwalker and the softer songs like Faith In Me.

A really great album and amazingly strong debut album

Blackwolf release The Hunt on 2nd March 2014, grab a copy Very Highly Reconmended

The Brew - Control (2014)

Genre - Hard Rock / Classic Rock
Label - Jazzhaus Records

Track listing:

01 - Repeat
02 - Eject
03 - Mute
04 - Pause
05 - Shuffle
06 - Fast Forward
07 - Skip
08 - Stop
09 - Play
10 - Rewind

The Brew have proven themselves to be one of the finest classic rock bands in the world over recent years, and one of the UK music scenes greatest exports. "With Control we wiped the slate clean and went for a raw and live feel" claims the bands promo sheet, and to be honest they have pulled it off superbly! The production, by the one and only Toby Jepson (Little Angels / Gun / Fastway / Dio's Disciples) captures that raw live feeling and really brings the songs to life. And speaking of songs, don't let those single word titles fool you into thinking you are getting a grunge type of album, on the contrary, the songs on control are exploding with life and atmosphere.
For a three piece The Brew sure do manage to make one hell of a noise. Jason Barwick's vocals are soulful and full of passion, whilst his guitar work is powerful and restrained, always making the song the highlight (and not how great a player he is!), in the vain of many of the genres greats. Tim Smith's bass playing gives a warm and full sound to each and every song, whilst Kurt Smith's drums provide the strong and solid foundations that the songs are built upon.
It is damn near impossible to pick out a standout track here, they are all absolutely brilliant, but I suggest you give opening single Repeat a spin or two as to give you a feel for just how great this album truly is!

Control is released Feb 20th, make sure you grab a copy, you wont be disappointed!

Seven Deadly - Obliviation (2014)

Genre - Melodic Heavy Metal
Label - Self Released

Track listing:

01 - Play The Game
02 - Life Begins To Fade
03 - From this Darkness
04 - Posthumous
05 - Blood On Your Hands
06 - Obliviation
07 - Remain At Peace
08 - Pure Steel
09 - Allegiance
10 - Remember
11 - The Wrath
12 - Time Ghost

UK metal heads Seven Deadly serve up their highly anticipated debut album after wetting out taste buds with their Allegiance EP previously, and you know what? They don't disappoint!
Seven Deadly deliver up a great dose of metal, combining elements of heavy metal, groove metal, metal core, thrash and classic rock, into a truly unique and brilliant sound. I really do believe that this band are destined to just get bigger and bigger, the world really is their oyster as there really aren't many bands out there today producing albums of this strength and quality, and I'm including many of the established "big" bands in that comment.
One of Seven Deadly's strongest attributes has to be the range and versatility of vocalist Archie Wilson, as he effortlessly straddles the various genres and styles that each song, (yet alone the album!) passes through. The guitar work is outstanding, brutal, exciting and restrained when required, always allowing the song to breath and showcase itself brilliantly. The rhythm section are the solid foundation that each of the songs are built upon, and to be honest Murillo Rassi and Rob Hicks could give any rhythm section in ANY band a bloody good run for their money!
There is not a bad track to be found anywhere on this album, but if I had to pick a couple that really do stand out as future metal classics then title track Obliviation, Remember, Remain At Peace, From This Darkness, Blood On Your Hands and opener Play The Game would have to be among them!
Combine the great songs, a band that really are at the very top of their game with a top notch production and Obliviation could damn well be the best metal album released in 2014!
Now lets get them onto some festivals.
